1 arrested for hacking Noida official’s X account, posting against Rahul Gandhi

The Noida Police has arrested a person for allegedly hacking the official X handle of the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate (DM) and making an objectionable post against Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, referring to him as “pappu”.
The accused, identified as Sohan Singh (34), was arrested on September 14, and his mobile phone, from which the objectionable comment was made, was also seized by the police.
“The Sector 20 police have arrested the accused who hacked the official X account of the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar and made inappropriate/ political remarks,” a press statement by Noida Police said.
On Friday, September 13, an objectionable statement was posted from the official X handle of Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate (DM) Manish Verma against Rahul Gandhi, referring to him as “pappu”.
Later, a statement was issued by Verma, saying some anti-social elements had misused his X account and posted a “wrong comment”.
“Taking this seriously, legal action is being taken by registering an FIR immediately and the wrong tweet/comment is being investigated by the cyber cell,” it said.
The controversy erupted after Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate posted a clip from her conversation with a historian on X, in which she said, “History is made and cannot be changed. Narendra Modi knows how history will remember him and that is why he is worried.”
Responding to the post, a comment — which was later deleted — from the official X handle of the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate said in Hindi, “You should think about yourself and your Pappu.”
Irked by the objectionable comments, Shrinate later shared a screenshot of the deleted post and said, “He is DM Noida, he is responsible for the entire district. His language and thoughts about the country’s Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi must be seen.”
“It is clear that the administrative staff is full of Sanghis — and now they are fanning hatred by sitting on constitutional posts,” she added.
